Charleen Peequaquat - Councillor
I’m Charlene Peequaquat, and it continues to be an honour to serve as your Councillor with responsibility for Sports, Culture & Recreation as well as Justice and Health.
I am a mother of 6 adult children and 8 grandchildren. deeply passionate about building stronger, healthier, and more connected community. In my Sports, Culture & Recreation portfolio, I’m encouraged focused on more opportunities for people of all ages to get active, celebrate our vibrant cultures, and enjoy quality recreational spaces. Whether it’s supporting local sports teams, expanding cultural events, or improving inclusion and facilities that are welcoming, I believe these areas are vital for community pride, well-being, and bringing people together.
In Justice and Health, I’m committed to advancing initiatives that promote safety, fairness, and access to quality health services. I am rooted in natural health, exercise and a better understanding of updated science. I research many forms of natural health and hope we acquire some of those more natural ways of healing. Also committed to ensuring our communities have the supports needed for everyone to thrive from better mental health resources to programs that keep families and individuals healthy and secure. This is a new portfolio and spent a great time understanding our funding agreements with ISC and STC. We still seek a Justice worker and hope this position is filled soon. Reports have been great from our Rose valley detachment in the meantime. For two straight quarters there have been no reports on domestic violence and hope we as a community end this altogether.
Every day I’m energized by the dedication of prayer and frequencies that guide us into being a better person as a whole, our volunteers, athletes, artists, and frontline workers continue to help guide the directions we need to adhere to as a community. Together we’re making real progress on the things that matter most: vibrant communities, healthy living, and a strong sense of belonging.
Thank you for your continued support and trust. I look forward to sharing more positive updates as we keep moving forward together!
Warm regards,
Charlene Peequaquat
